We understand that taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive about our clinic, the therapy process, and billing.
Getting Started
What should I expect during my first visit?
A thorough evaluation is completed at the beginning of treatment by a licensed psychotherapist. They will discuss your history, current challenges, and treatment goals to establish a collaborative care plan tailored to you.
How do you match me with a therapist?
When you call to schedule, our receptionists will ask for a brief description of what you are experiencing. We use this information to carefully match you with a clinical staff member whose background and expertise best fit your specific needs.
Do you offer telehealth or online appointments?
Yes! We provide specialized treatment through traditional in-person visits at our Port Washington and Wauwatosa clinics, as well as through convenient, secure online telehealth appointments.
Insurance & Billing
Do you take my insurance?
Comprehensive Counseling is in-network with most major insurance plans, including Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Aurora Healthcare, BadgerCare, Medicare, and UnitedHealthcare. We encourage all new clients to check their benefits to understand their deductibles or co-payments prior to their first session.
What if I want to pay out-of-pocket?
If we are not in your insurance network, or if you prefer to pay out-of-pocket, we offer discounted self-pay rates: $150 for the initial evaluation, and $120 for follow-up 45-60 minute therapy sessions.
The Therapy Process
How long does therapy usually take?
The duration of treatment depends on the severity and history of the issues you are facing. Some individuals and families learn to manage their problems in a relatively short amount of time, while others take several months. Finishing treatment is always a mutual decision between you and your psychotherapist.
Is my treatment confidential?
Absolutely. Your privacy is our priority. By law, your health information and what is discussed in therapy is strictly confidential, with a few rare legal exceptions regarding immediate safety, which your therapist will explain during your first visit.
Still Have Questions?
Our clinical staff is happy to respond to any additional questions you might have about treatment.
